[Wehrmacht] [All] Assault Grenadiers overtuned

As the title suggests I have found that assault grenadiers are currently a bit too strong in my opinion. I am pretty happy that they got buffed but I think it was a bit too hard. Currently they are pretty durable and do solid damage even at midranges making them pretty threatening to all basic infantry and when vetted and upgraded they hold their own rather well against specialised elite infantry. From my current gameplay experience they can stand toe to toe with and beat ppsh penals and the new paratroopers with ppsh. They also trade fairly evenly with rangers upgraded with thomsons.

The primary issue here is not thet they are effective but I don't think it's great for balance when they regularly beat more costly squads in the same role and do so more efficiently thanks to their cheaper cost.

My personal wish for them would be to not change their lethality but to simply reduce their recieved accuracy bonuses so that they still remain a threat but bleed out more heavily when rushed blindly into enemy fire. Any other suggestions and opinions are welcome.

    Well thought out post. I agree also, they do feel quite durable considering their price and output

    My personal wish make them weaker in the start and bit stonger in late game like the (Veteran leader should come with SGT-42)
    My opinion is 2 of the 3 alies faction easly counter them in early (soviet and brits) but the USF has a hard time aginst them in the early game but lot of assult granadiers mean no faust and thats mean Light tanks has bigger chance to survive

    nope... brits struggle against them as well

    even if the sections are in green cover and are firing on them as they come in the chance of a dropped model is minimal especially with sprint, once in close quarters it's curtains, if not then the rapid multi-grenade launch will finish them

    but all that being said the likelyhood of a skill player assaulting front on while in green cover is low as it's less than optimal even if it's still viable.. which goes to show that it definitely needs adjusting

    The brits has several tools to counter (Vickers,Universal carrier) but yes they had strong early game and if we don't play enough attention they easly flank the HMG killing the crew and worst senerios stealing it
    "Rapid multi-grenade launch" is can be easly dogde and when they doing it 1-2 second they stop dealing dmg but when your group garissoned or they threw through walls before you spot it yes it can be lethal

    overall they had a stong start but almost be useless in late mid-late game

    I agree with the first post... maybe a reinforce cost increase to prevent spam or received accuracy to level them against other infantry

    When comparing between 2 units. Look at the timing, cost, tech requires , doc or non doc, utility ect, upgrade wise.

    Timing on the field
    Assaultgren come at 0 CP.

    Other AI doc infantry come at 3 CP is not about being too soon. Its about "you can not save your man power and wait for 3 CP to call in Shock". At 3 CP, I doubt the 1st Shock troop on the field with the absence of Cons or Penal, or Ranger with absence of Riflemen. The point I want to make, Shock or Ranger can not be spammed because the requiring of maintain Cons/Riflemen cause manpower hungry. Otherwise if you try to save manpower just to wait for Shock/Ranger, the CP will never reach to 3.

    => This makes AssGren spammable.

    Combat wise at their timing
    What Im writing here isnt about AssGren come ~6min earlier that should be much weaker than Shock/Ranger.
    The points I want to make here are:

    • Why have your 1st Gren at 40sec when you have AssGren at 1sec.
    • Gren needs tech, AssGren doesnt.
    • Why build Gren to be viable from mid game when AssGren is also viable from mid game.

    => This makes AssGren spammable.

    Do you remember back to 2013 why Cons never have a weapon upgrade (except doc ppsh)? Because Cons did great job at taking resource in early game, thats why they should not be viable in later game.
    Do you know why today Cons gain the 7th men to make it viable in late game? Because Cons is no more viable in early game.

    Are Assaultgren need upgrade to be viable in mid game because they not viable enough in early game?

    Just try to replace AssGren with Stormtroop, Im sure you can not spam Stormtroop when you have at least 2 more Gren squad to maintain.

    Oh yes!

    Assault grenadiers

    -buffed weapon
    -grenades can wipe entire squads (yes more than one if blobbing).
    -No built time
    -10 MP cost for sprinting. (you get to wreck any enemy early mg)
    -Experience Wer player will have one MG42, pioneers, and Assualt grenadiers ready for the first engage from the match against two squads (engineers & conscripts)

    Is quite common to be facing them in every mode of the game 1v1 or team games, as they come with great damage, no build time and the strongest part of all are the grenades that can wipe an entire squad with no effort.

    Is a very cost effective unit with no big skill required, simply requiring throwing grenades as soon as you engage an enemy squad or spending 10MP to close the gap between you and the enemy squad.
